Course Curriculum

Heres What We Cover In The Course:

Session 1:

  • Brain chemicals and why we need to know these
  • Brain structures; what, when and how they change and develop 
  • Fight, flight and freeze- which physiological response does your child show? And how can we use this to our advantage to help support them through tantrums/meltdowns. 
  • Learning about the term ‘processing’ emotions- a way of helping your children's brains make sense of big emotions or experiences so it doesn’t impact their wellbeing long term and cause negative behaviours such as anxiety or avoidance 
  • Exploring how we can become our children's support so they turn to us in times of difficulty rather than keeping their feelings bottled up

Session 2:

  • Exploring the emotional brain- what behaviours do our children show if they are acting from their emotional brain? 
  • How we should respond to them if they are visibly in their emotional brain 
  • Exploring the logical brain- how do we know when they are using their logical brain? 
  • How can we help them to access their logical brain more? 
  • Labelling emotions- why is this important and how do we do it? 
  • Anxiety- what is it? Is anxiety normal? Where can anxiety stem from? 
  • What can we do to explore anxious behaviours and try to reduce them?

Session 3:

  • Exploring the innate emotional needs that all children have 
  • How do emotional needs relate to behaviours you will see in your children? 
  • How can we make sure we are fulfilling our children's emotional needs? 
  • What can we do to reduce defiant or difficult behaviours? 
  • How can we increase our children’s confidence and self-esteem?

Session 4:

  • What is identity and why is it so important? 
  • What does it mean if we label children? How does this impact wellbeing? 
  • How can we switch our negative labels to positive attributes? 
  • What does it mean to be assertive and how can we ensure our children get the right balance? 
  • Exploring dominant characters and how we can reduce this so that it doesn’t impact social relationships 
  • Exploring submissiveness and how to increase a child's confidence
